Since so important, what is a good scrub?
1. Fine grains
Many thinks the rougher the grains, the better. Ironically, its the opposite. In fact, bigger grains can scratch skin (cannot see by naked eye) and cause damage and stress to skin.
How fine? I would recommend as fine as sand.
2. What do the grains made of?
You will be surprised that most of the scrubs, the grains are made of special type of plastic.
Whenever possible look for one that has natural grain from fruits.
3. Foam vs non foam
Most of the scrubs on shelves foams, while limited do not.
There is nothing wrong with those which foams as long as it does not gives a tight feel on skin after using.
Non foams are recommended especially those with sensitive skin. Also it avoid the natural moisturiser on skin to be ripped off.
For my spa, I am using Potpots Scrubie scrub on my clients. Those fine grains are naturally made from 100% organic olive kernels. It's comes in unique gel non-form type. It's one of the popular product in the Potpot's range.
Aha! One of the frequently ask question to me is how long to scrub. Well, less than 60 seconds. Best to use scrub before masking so that skin can receive the best from the mask, without the barrier (dead skin).
If you are too busy to mask, you should use scrub more frequently. It helps to get cleanse skin pores too!
Hope these tips helps in your next purchase.
Cheers!
